Chaverim -The circle of friends for the liberal Jewish community in Cologne
Chaverim Cologne was founded in 2018 with the aim of supporting active liberal Judaism in the city.
Our mission is to support the local liberal Jewish community with ideas, events - and if we can - also with money for projects. We were founded as a non-profit association for this purpose. We have been entered in the register of associations at Cologne Local Court since 2019. In 2021, the Cologne North Tax Office certified our non-profit status.
Diversity. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that liberal communities were founded again in Germany, including in Cologne. Most of us Chaverim (Hebrew for friends) are not Jewish. However, we want to contribute to the development of this movement as an important facet of Jewish life in Cologne and anchor it permanently in the city's society.
Project. Membership fees and donations are intended not least to contribute to the acquisition of a suitable Jewish-liberal community center, its structural maintenance and the furnishing of the synagogue. We also want to promote interreligious and intercultural dialog within the scope of our possibilities.
We therefore invite friends of the community to become members. These can also be non-Jewish partners of members of the congregation. The membership fee per year is at least € 50.00. You can request an information flyer and/or an application form at .
